Table 1.
#CON exemplars | L1 | NIf | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 2 | 3 | 1 | 2 | 3 | |
BOS > CON for all CON | 2 | 6 | 1 | 5 | ||
BOS > CON for many CON | 1 (2) | 1 (1) | 1 (2) | |||
BOS ≈ CON | 9 | 2 (1) | ||||
5 (0) |
A tally of the responses of units in L1 and NIf to BOS and CON. Units were tested with one, two, or three exemplars of CON, as indicated by the different columns. BOS > CON for all CON represents the number of units whose responses were significantly stronger (two-tailed t test; p < 0.05) to BOS than to CON for every exemplar of CON tested. For BOS > CON for many CON and BOS ≈ CON, the numbers in parentheses indicate the number of CON exemplars for which the BOS response was stronger. Note that the preponderance of L1 cells are in BOS ≈ CON, whereas the NIf cells are mostly in BOS > CON for all CON.
