Effect of intrathecal trkB-IgG (10 μl, 0.16 mg/ml plus 10 μl flush) or saline vehicle (20 μl) on hindpaw thermal withdrawal latencies and mechanical thresholds after intraplantar injection of carageenan (50 μl, 2%). Thermal and mechanical thresholds for withdrawal of the treated hindpaw were measured 3 and 24 hr after intraplantar injection. Compounds were administered 30 min before each testing point. A, A significant difference was present between the effect of saline and trkB-IgG on thermal withdrawal latencies at both time points (p < 0.05, two-way repeated measures ANOVA). B, There was a trend for the mechanical thresholds for paw withdrawal to be higher in those animals treated with trkB-IgG; however, this was not significant.
