Activation of caspase-3 in AxCAYAP-infected NT2 cultures. Neurally differentiated NT2 cells were infected with AxCAYAP or AxCALacZ, and lysates of enriched neurons were prepared at indicated time points. Caspase-3-like protease activity (Caspase-3, left) and caspase-1-like protease activity (Caspase-1, right) were measured by cleavage of the fluorogenic substrates Z-DEVD-AFC and Ac-YVAD-MCA, respectively (mean ± SEM; n = 3).
