The medulla neurons projected into different layers of the medulla, sent their projections into different areas of the brain (such as the lobula or the protocerebrum), and, when filled, the cell bodies were located in certain areas of the brain (such as lateral to the mushroom body (MB) calyx), which depended on the medulla neuron type.
