A and Billustrate neurons in the striatum stained for nNOS (arrows), demonstrating the intense staining of the cytoplasm and process of these cells. C andD illustrate staining of the same fields for the C1 (C) and C2′ (D) segments of NMDAR1, whereas E and F were produced by the superimposition of the images above. Immunoreactivity for C1 is found in most striatal neurons (C) but is absent from neurons stained for nNOS (C, E,arrows).
