Intracellular superoxide scavengers prevent motor neuron death induced by trophic factor deprivation. Cultures were exposed to the indicated concentrations of the SOD mimetic manganese TBAP (•) immediately after plating. Motor neuron survival was determined as described in Materials and Methods 24 hr after plating. (▪) BDNF, 100 pg/ml. Values are the mean ± SD of two independent experiments performed in duplicate.
