In addition to blocking mechanotransduction, dihydrostreptomycin leads to a DC shift in the inhibitory direction in some cells. The amplitude of the DC shift varies from hardly detectable (a) to larger (b) values that could be much greater than the receptor current (c). This DC shift indicates a block of opened, mechanically insensitive ion channels.
