Effects of ITDs on the response of an MSO neuron to 20 repetitions of a 200 Hz SAM tone. The PSTHs show how the cell responded for five different ITDs, ranging from −2 to +2 msec. The neuron responded with good phase-locking to ITDs near 0. When the signal to either ear was delayed, the phase-locked response disappeared and only the first on-response remained (temporal resolution of the PSTH: 0.1 msec).
