Mitochondrial depolarization is still neuroprotective in the presence of elevated cytoplasmic Ca2+. Cells were incubated in the presence of 5 μg/ml oligomycin and 2.6 mm external Ca2+ and exposed to 100 μmglutamate–10 μm glycine for the indicated period in the absence (A) or presence (B) of 2 μm rotenone.
