Effect of NGF on various transcription factors in sympathetic neurons. NGF was withdrawn from primary cultures of rat sympathetic neurons for 14 hr, after which NGF (100 ng/ml) was added back to the culture for the indicated time periods. Nuclear extracts were prepared from these cells and were then subjected to EMSA using³²P-radiolabeled DNA probes as indicated. The specific binding of protein complexes to the different probes is indicated by the filled circle. The results shown are representative of more than three independent experiments; essentially identical results were also obtained when cells were exposed to 50 ng/ml NGF (data not shown).
