Damage score in the dentate gyrus and in the hippocampus CA1 region in rats, assessed at 7 d of recovery after 30 min of hypoglycemic coma. Rats were treated with a single dose of CsA (CsA20; 20 mg/kg, i.v.), CsA (CsA50; 50 mg/kg, i.v.), FK 506 (FK506; 2 mg/kg, i.v.), or vehicle (Vh). There was a significant (p < 0.05) decrease in damage in both regions in animals treated intravenously with 50 mg/kg, when compared with the control group. Kruskal–Wallis test.
