The filopodia (copper) receive synaptic contacts near the tips (1, 6) and at the base (3, 4, 5). An additional shaft synapse (2) can be seen on the surface of the dendrite. Two other shaft synapses and one spine synapse (data not shown) also occurred on this dendritic segment. Electron micrographs (insets) show the details of each synapse.
