A, The GDPSP is suppressed (cell a) or blocked (cellb) in a nominally bicarbonate-free solution buffered with HEPES and equilibrated with 100% O2.B, The GDPSC shows a dependence on bicarbonate similar to the GDPSP. Note that the hIPSC as measured at the resting level of this neuron (−50 mV) is not suppressed in the HEPES/O2medium. Recordings at −50 mV are shown at an expanded time scale in both A and B.
