Folic acid–curcumin–gold–polyvinylpyrrolidone nanoconjugates (FA–CurAu-PVP NCs) suppress breast cancer growth under in vivo conditions. (A, B) 4T1 mouse mammary cells were injected orthotopically into Balb/c mice and then 10 mg/kg body weight of curcumin and FA–CurAu-PVP NCs were injected intratumorally twice a week for 2 weeks. Tumor volumes were measured twice a week using Vernier calipers, analyzed statistically and represented graphically (mean ± SEM, n=5; *p<0.006 compared to control tumor, **p<0.05 compared to curcumin-treated tumor). (C, D) Tumors were excised, photographed, weighed and analyzed statistically. The bar graph represents mean tumor weights (mean ± SD, n=5; *p<0.05 compared to control).
