Schematic model of the conformational change of HSP70 mediated by the phosphorylation of its serine residues at positions 385 and 400. In the presence of EGF signaling, the serine residues at positions 385 and 400 in HSP70 were phosphorylated by ERK. Phosphorylation enhances the extended conformation of HSP70, resulting in its augmented folding activity and the enhancement of tumor progression
