Ratio of transcripts from rind tissue of internodes 4–5 (secondary): internodes 6 and 8 (elongation) for genes expressed at ≥500 reads per 20 M were classified as elongation (≤1.04), transitional (1.05–1.94), and secondary (≥1.95) expression. A complete collection of the genes we annotated, including potential Arabidopsis orthologs is given in Table S1 .
