Expression of the ahpF gene was induced from a chimeric T5-lac promoter of high-copy-number plasmid pCA24N::ahpF by 0.1 mM or 1 mM IPTG. The E. coli K-12 strain BW25113 was used as the wild-type strain. MIC was defined as the minimal drug concentration that caused 90% growth inhibition. The MIC values and error bars represent the means and ranges from at least three independent experiments.
