Protein size is not a substantial contributor to protein loss in non-denaturing photocapture conditions. Triplicate BMPA hydrogels with immobilized protein were created for each of OVA (42.7 kDa), TI (20.1 kDa), and RNase (13.7 kDa). Dotted lines represent photobleaching controls, whereas solid lines represent treatment groups. At round 7, the protein losses were 46.0% ± 5.0%, 38.2% ± 4.2%, and 71.4% ± 7.9% for OVA, TI, and RNase, respectively, indicating minimal size-based correlation.
