Number of potential archaeal, bacterial, fungal, human and viral of min. 10kb segments in genome assemblies of Oryza sativa (A) and Arabidopsis thaliana (B). For these two species, it is most clear that one or few assemblies have many more potentially foreign segments than others, independent from the number of contigs or genome size (complete data in Table S1 ).
