The data from the two patients with no information about the surgical technique are not included. Data are presented as mean (age), median (all other quantitative parameters) or as frequency counts of available data (persistence, hypoparathyroidism, recurrence and reoperations). Follow-up is considered from surgery to the last follow-up visit in operated patients and from diagnosis in non-operated patients. Only patients with long-term follow-up are considered for recurrence and permanent hypoparathyroidism analysis.
