Randomized Olmesartan And Diabetes MicroAlbuminuria Prevention (ROADMAP) biomarkers of microalbuminuria. ROADMAP has identified 3 biomarkers, CXCL16, angiopoietin 2 (Ang2), and transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFβ1), as markers of progression to microalbuminuria, related to inflammation, endothelial cell/podocyte damage, and deposition of extracellular matrix, as indicated on the figure.
