The morphology of the organ of Corti at the apex (a-e), mid (f-j) and base (k-o) of the cochlea was examined by scanning electron microscopy in Slc26a4^+/+(a, f, k), Slc26a4^Δ/Δ (b, g, l), injected Slc26a4^Δ/Δ (c, h, m), Slc26a4^{tm1Dontuh/tm1Dontuh}(d, i, n), and injected Slc26a4^{tm1Dontuh/tm1Dontuh} mice (e, j, o) at 5 weeks of age.
