The viability of tubular epithelial cells (NRK-52E; ATCC) assessed by 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) test (A). Cells treated for 12 h with Tac according to the pharmakokinetic profile of fast metabolizers (Fast) showed the most reduced viability (*** p < 0.001 vs. Control, # p < 0.05 vs. Tac slow, ^§§§ p < 0.001 vs. Tac fast. Western blot analysis of Fn14 expression in NRK cells (B), showed higher Fn14 expression levels in NRK cells when compared to the other groups (* p < 0.05 vs. Control, *** p < 0.001 vs. Control, # p < 0.05 vs. Tac slow. ^§§ p < 0.01 vs. Tac fast).
