Risk for infective endocarditis in patients with infective endocarditis: (A) anatomic anomalies of the heart cause a lifelong higher risk for infective endocarditis; (B) professional dental care occasionally further increases the risk for infective endocarditis; (C) presence of chronic untreated infectious oral diseases causes an individually higher risk for infective endocarditis during daily activities, i.e., mastication.
