Figure 5

Degradation of CS–TPP multilayers in PBS buffer at 37 °C. 2 mg/mL suspensions of CS(42)–TPP- (A) and CS(17)–TPP-nanoparticles (B) were used as polycationic layer and 5 mg/mL alginate as polyanions. For (C) CS(42)–TPP- and CS(17)–TPP-nanoparticles (D) and 5 mg/mL chondroitin sulfate were used as polyelectrolyte. CS(42)–TPP- (E) and CS(17)-TP-nanoparticles (F) and 2 mg/mL hyaluronic acid were used. Lysozyme has been added to reach a concentration of 1.5 µg/mL. The 11th top layer was deposited by dipping in 1 mg/mL CS–Az–TPP nanoparticle suspension and subsequently, crosslinked under UV-light. Lysozyme was added to the CS–Az experimental group. N ≥ 3.
