The phylogenetic tree shows the evolutionary relationship among the bacteria with major branch points labeled. The E. coli K12 genes are labeled using their gene names as described in Figure 1. There are three genes that are not present in the E. coli cluster. The pink gene is annotated as a sodium/dicarboxylate symporter. The light green gene is annotated as a major facilitator superfamily 1 member. The brown gene is annotated as a pentulose-5-phosphate 3-epimerase.
