Changes in vimentin but not actin amount modulate E_CSK and E_cort. Corresponding plots of (A) cytoskeleton and (B) cortical stifness show a significant correlation to vimentin amount. Cell treatments with withaferin A and acrylamide show a correlation between E and amount of vimentin. Changes in actin amount in treated cells do not effect cell (C) cytoskeletal and (D) cortical Young’s modulus. Plots are presented using acrylamide 4 and 6 mM, and withaferin A 2.5 and 5 µM concentrations. The data of drug treatment and significant differences are presented in Supplementary Figure S8.
