The correlated network analysis of up-regulated and down-regulated proteins in adipocytes 3D co-cultured with macrophages (3C) versus 2D mono-cultured preadipocytes (2P). Up-regulated and down-regulated proteins were determined based upon an observed >1.5-fold change in expression among biological and technical replicates. The functional interactions of proteins were predicted using the STRING network analysis program. (A) The network of up-regulated proteins in the pink circle is associated with glycolysis/gluconeogenesis and the TCA cycle, and the yellow circle consists of proteins involved in fatty acid metabolism. (B) The network of down-regulated proteins in the blue circle is associated with cellular component organization, and the proteins in the green circle are involved in DNA replication and regulation of the cell cycle.
