Effect of temperature on viability of encapsulated cells. Mean recovery of the viable encapsulated cells: The storage temperature had an insignificant effect on the viability of encapsulated cells. Encapsulated cells were kept under transit at 4 °C and RT (5 each vials with 0.5 × 106 encapsulated cells/vial) for 3–5 days (n = 3). Cells were released from encapsulation after transit and quantified for viability by dye exclusion method using 0.4% Trypan blue. The average cell viability at given temperature and duration of the storage, was expressed in percentage, with error bars. En+: Encapsulated, En−: Non-encapsulated. *p = 0.0104, **p = 0.0008.
