Schematic diagram summarizing the findings of environmental enrichment (EE)-mediated enhancement in axon regeneration of proprioceptive dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons.

EE exposure enhanced axon regeneration through EE-elicited neuronal activity resulting in long lasting epigenetic markings in terms of CREB binding protein (CBP)-mediated histone acetylation, which promotes the expression of regeneration associated genes (RAGs).
