As described in the text, data sources include the SAMHSA Treatment Episode Data Set, NIAAA Alcohol Policy Information System, Census/ACS data, HRSA Area Health Resources Files, National Survey on Drug Use and Health, and the National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services. Policy categories: Weak (Plans are not required to cover alcohol treatment for enrollees; no parity laws exist); Coverage No Parity (CNP; Plans must cover alcohol treatment but there are no parity requirements); Partial Parity if Offered (PPIO; Plans must offer alcohol treatment coverage to enrollees; if covered, some parity rules apply); CPP (Plans must cover alcohol treatment and some parity rules apply); Strong (Alcohol treatment coverage is mandated along with all 4 types of parity).
