Figure 2 is a breakdown of chemical compounds. The parent compound (zearalenone ZEN) breaks down into phase 1 metabolites and phase 2 metabolites. Phase 1 metabolites include zearalanone (ZAN), alpha and beta zearalanone (alpha and beta ZAL) and alpha and beta zearalenone (alpha and beta ZEL). Phase 2 metabolites include zearalanone-14-sulfate (ZEN-14-Sulf), zearalenone-14 glucuronide (ZEN-14-GlcA), alpha and beta zearalenol-14-glucuronide (alpha and beta ZEN-14-GlcA). — Chemical structures of ZEN and its metabolites investigated in this study.
