Figure 6.

Figure 6 has two graphs. The first graph plots ZEN values (ranging from 0 to 350 in intervals of 50) (y-axis) for maternal and fetal perfusates with standard error of mean across perfusion time (ranging from 0 to 360 minutes in intervals of 60) (x-axis). The second graph plots FM ratio values (ranging from 0 to 1.4) (y-axis) for ZEN, antipyrine, and creatinine with standard error of mean across perfusion time (ranging from 0 to 360 minutes in intervals of 60) (x-axis)

Perfusion profile and fetal–maternal (FM) ratio of zearalenone (ZEN). ZEN (318μg/L) was added to the maternal circulation and its concentration was measured from the maternal and fetal perfusates by LC-MS/MS at several time points during 6 h of perfusion. FM ratios were calculated for each time point and FM ratios of antipyrine and creatinine were added for comparison. Data represent mean±SD of three independent placentas, perfused with medium containing ZEN. p<0.05 is considered statistically significant (* denotes differences between maternal and fetal concentrations in ZEN perfusions; # denotes differences in FM ratio between ZEN and creatinine). Perfusion data comparing maternal and fetal concentrations were analyzed by unpaired Student's t-test.
