The plasma tau levels of different groups of subjects. The mean (±standard deviation) tau concentrations were 15.6 ± 6.9 pg/mL for the healthy elder group, 33.2 ± 5.4 pg/mL for the MCI group and 53.9 ± 11.7 pg/mL for the early AD group (F = 57.7, p < 0.01). Post hoc analyses identified significant differences between the control and early AD groups and between the MCI and early AD groups (both p < 0.01).
