During the identification of the emotional states of the protagonists, participants with low scores on the PCL‐R compared with individuals with high scores on the PCL‐R, showed greater signal change in the anterior insula (−34 12 −8), vmPFC (14 38 −2), dlPFC (50 22 34), and rTPJ (46 −46 12). When participants were asked to identify the emotions of the protagonists, participants with high psychopathy showed increased activity bilaterally in the TPJ (left: −42 −46 18; right: 58 −30 8), dmPFC (‐2 46 32), dlPFC (52 20 20), vlPFC (40 38 −6), hippocampus (30 −38 −2), amygdala (30 2 −20), and ACC (−10 28 20).
