Concentrations of (A) salicylic acid (SA), (B) jasmonic acid (JA), and (C) JA-isoleucine (JA-Ile) in black poplar stems increase after P. populi infection. Trees approximately 1 m in height were inoculated with P. populi after wounding and control trees were inoculated with sterile culture medium. Analysis was performed by LC-tandem mass spectrometry. Samples were harvested from separate trees at each time point. Data were analyzed using Student’s t-test (*, p ≤ 0.05; **, p < 0.01; and ***, p < 0.001; ns, non-significant).
