Increases in the transcription of sigB, lmo2230, and opuCA in the presence of visible light at 30°C is dependent upon Cys56 in Lmo0799. Exponentially growing cells were exposed to 0.6 mW cm⁻² 470 nm light for 30 min at 30 or 37°C, with RNA samples collected at 10 min intervals. Relative transcription of sigB (A), lmo2230 (B), and opuCA (C) was measured by RT-PCR. Error bars represent SD from three independent replicates. Statistical significance was determined by two-way ANOVA with Dunnett’s multiple comparisons test (****p ≤ 0.0001).
