The transmembrane (gray box) and cytoplasmic region of THSD7A bears a striking resemblance to the corresponding domains of other proteins, such as L-selectin, known to undergo calcium-dependent shedding of the ectodomain. The residues in bold, which extend into the transmembrane region and include a series of basic amino acids in the cytoplasmic juxtamembrane region, are sites of known or proposed (for THSD7A) calmodulin binding.
