Large cubic phase water channels. Cubic phases made with DOPE-PEG can swell more than those made with GMO-PEG. Wave-vector q versus (h2 + k2 + l2)1/2 shows the expected straight line with slope 2π/aQ, where aQ is the lattice spacing. The lattice spacing of 160 Å for the GMO-PEG mixture corresponds to estimated water channel diameter (dW) of 65 Å, and the lattice spacing of 484 A for DOPE-PEG mixture corresponds to dW = 276 Å.
