Auditory brainstem response analyses revealed that Csf1op/op mice have mild to moderate hearing loss. (A) Auditory brainstem response (ABR) thresholds (decibels of sound pressure level, dB SPL) were measured in 4-week-old Csf1op/op mice and wild type (WT) littermates. Male and female mice were analyzed together. Csf1op/op mice show a higher ABR threshold at 8, 16, and 32 kHz, indicating that Csf1op/op mice have mild to moderate hearing loss. (B) ABR thresholds were also measured 2 h and 7 days after noise exposure to 8 kHz octave band noise at 120 dB SPL for 1 h. Csf1op/op mice are less susceptible to acoustic overstimulation, and the difference in the threshold shift in ABR 2 h after noise exposure compared with WT mice is statistically significant.
