(a) The incidence of hypoglycemia per dialysis session was higher in the nonadjusted-insulin group than in the adjusted-insulin group (10/306 (3.3%) vs. 2/306 (0.7%), P = 0.020). (b) Symptoms related to hypoglycemia were more frequent in the nonadjusted-insulin group than in the adjusted-insulin group (21/306 (6.9%) vs. 2/306 (0.7%), P = 0.001). (c) The nonadjusted-insulin group produced a significant increase in heart rate during the 2nd hour of dialysis compared with the adjusted-insulin group (P = 0.010).
