Fig. 5 — Gross-appearance of gastric mucosa in rat: (a) pre-treated with saline, 10 mL/kg (ulcer control). Severe injuries are seen, as ethanol-HCl (1 mL/100 g) produced excessive hemorrhagic necrosis of gastric-mucosa (b, c & d) pretreated with Ficus palmata crude extract (Fp.Cr) at doses of 50, 100, 300 mg/kg and (e) pretreated with omeprazole 20 mg/kg. The injuries reduce with increase of Fp.Cr doses and omeprazole compare with ulcer-control. At 300 mg/kg, Fp.Cr showed most efficacious gastro protective action
