Most lymphatic vessels in orthotopic breast tumors contain integrated myeloid-derived lymphatic endothelial cell progenitors. A–G: Transgenic MMTV-PyMT tumors were stained with antibodies against Lyve-1, CD11b, and podoplanin (A) or vascular endothelial (VE)–cadherin (B) and imaged by confocal microscopy; the white boxed area in B indicates the region analyzed by Z-stack (CG) separated by 2 μm (total thickness of 10 μm). H: EMT6 tumors were also stained for coexpression of Lyve-1 and CD11b. I: The number of peritumoral Lyve-1+ vessels expressing CD11b was counted in the MDA-MB-231-Luc (231), R3L, MMTV-PyMT, and EMT6 breast tumors.
