Plasma glucose and insulin levels during OGTT. OGTT was performed every three weeks from 6 to 15 weeks of age using 2 g/kg body weight glucose. After 9 weeks of age, the plasma glucose levels in group db/db(c+) were significantly lower than those in group db/db(c−). Initial insulin secretion was impaired in group db/db(c−); on the other hand, in db/db(c+), initial insulin secretion was preserved, and plasma insulin levels at 90 and 120 min were significantly higher than those in group db/db(c−) after 12 weeks of age.
