Detection of CAT1 expression in 8 different species-based cell lines and its correlation with susceptibility to infection by BLV. Cell lysates were subjected to Western blot analysis using anti-CAT1 and anti–β-actin antibodies to detect CAT1 expression in each cell line (upper panel). The cell lines were infected by coculturing with BLV-infected cells or by transfection of the infectious molecular clone pBLV-IF2 (lower). The results of syncytium formation for each cell line following BLV infection are shown as positive (+), negative (−), and not tested (NT).
