Regions of recombination spanning the P-nga-ifs-slo locus. Recombination across the nga, ifs, and slo genes (blue arrows) was identified in eight genotypes in addition to the previously described emm1 and emm89. Length of recombination, predicted by SNP cluster analysis, ranged from ∼6 kb to 36 kb. With the exception of emm75, all regions also encompassed the promoter of nga-ifs-slo. All regions are shown relative to an ∼40-kb region within the reference genome H293, and genes within this region are depicted as arrows. Recombination in emm1 extended beyond that depicted here and is shown as a broken line.
