Biomarkers in plasma and heart from rats with preestablished cardiovascular disease or pharmacologically induced oxidative stress. Markers of oxidative stress (3-NT, MDA, 4-HNE) and inflammation (IL-6) were increased in plasma (AC) and heart (DF) of hypertensive, diabetic and nitrate tolerant rats as compared to control animals. Original blots are shown on the right for 4 technical replicates per group (GI). Data are mean ± SD of 7 (Ctr) and 3 (AT-II, STZ, GTN) rats per group. Each single animal data point was generated from 2–4 technical replicates. * p < 0.05 vs. control group.
