Metal ions promote aggregation of Tau. Tau aggregation in absence (black) or presence of 1.1 mM CaCl2 (light gray) or 1.1 mM ZnCl2 (dark grey), at increasing hTau441 concentrations: 15 µM (A,B), 20 µM (C,D), 25 µM (E,F) and 50 µM (G,H). All panels are representative of three independent measurements with Tau (at given concentration) at pH 7.4 with 1 mM DTT, 0.5 mg/mL heparin sodium salt, 50 mM NaCl, 1 mM PMSF and 75 µM ThT, under agitation (600 rpm) at 37 °C with or without metal ion.
