Effect of pectin pre-treatment on interleukin (IL)-6 production in RAW264.7 macrophages. Cells were pre-treated with 250 μg/mL citrus or orange pectin for 24 h and stimulated with 1 μg/mL (A) Pam3CSK4 or (B) LPS. (C) Cells were pre-treated with 50 μg/mL polysaccharides derived from side chain of citrus or orange pectin for 24 hours and stimulated with 1 μg/mL LPS. The IL-6 concentration in the supernatant was determined 24 h after toll-like receptor stimulation. Values are presented as means ± standard error of the mean of three independent experiments.
