The dual role of Card9 genetic mutations in IBD patients. Card9 alleles in IBD patients have both a common predisposing and rare protective function. The rs10870077, rs4077515 and rs10781499 variants in Card9 were confirmed to be high genetic risk factors, but rs141992399 and rs200735402 were shown to have a functional protective role.
